Metamorphosis

peel me like a banana

a baby back bend

off myself.

the skin callus and torn

spread open

revealing

a soft pink beginning.

stripped of shells

a metamorphosis longing,

belonging

to that kind of cliche:

like a snake

shedding

or a caterpillar

undressing

curling her neck

scapula pressing,

fingers spread

expecting

to feel skin

but instead

finding wings
