Florence + the Machine

If you regularly read my blog, it’s no surprise to you that I’m a huge fan of this amazon.

Florence Welch started her vocal career in Britain after dropping out of Camberwell College of Arts. Her critically acclaimed debut album “Lungs” was released in 2009, and quickly rose to the top of music charts in the UK before spreading to North America.

Welch deserves amazon status because of her fearless sound. When I first played her cover of  Beyonce’s “Halo” for my mother, she asked me to turn it off: “she’s so clearly off-key” my mother commented. While Welch may strike some odd notes, her unique sound keeps me listening.

Florence + the Machine sounds unconventional because of the band uniquely blends musical genres, from tribal music to folk sounds, all led by Welch’s pitchy and powerful vocals.

What’s most exciting: this amazon is just getting started.
