“It was the kind of music that makes you fall in love”
That’s exactly what I wrote in my notebook when I first heard Samuel Beam’s voice playing in an espresso bar off College Street in Toronto. I had to ask the barista for the artist’s name. Soon after, my iTunes was filled with Iron and Wine, Beam’s stage and recording name.
At first glance, you’d expect Beam to be a heavy metal rocker. With his scruffy beard and thick frame, Beam looks more like a motorcyclist than a songwriter, but appearances deceive—the minute this California native opens his mouth or strokes his guitar, all you hear is love.
Beam has authored three studio albums thus far, and his forth album Kiss Each Other Clean is due out in the US and UK January 25th, 2011. Stay tuned to Lady Medusa for a full review.
